OUR STORY

Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to work on race cars.  I went to school to be a mechanical engineer.  I taught myself CNC machining.  I would read technical books about race car design in my spare time.  I would take every opportunity to glean information from those in every aspect of race car design and fabrication.  But my love for racing and building race cars didn't result in a career in the industry.

Built like a true race car, the front suspension on the Red Lands Racing UTV set a new benchmark for what could be done with a UTV.

Built like a true race car, the suspension and steering on this UTV set a new benchmark for UTV performance.

Then in 2015, I was given the opportunity to design the front suspension and steering system for possibly the most advanced race UTV ever built.  The UTV market was new to me but I quickly realized that almost all the available products on the market were better suited to the recreational user than a full blown race car.  I set out to design a suspension that was equal to any on a class 1 or class 10 car while conforming to the tight rules of the UTV class.  In the cars very first race it dominated the newly created "PRO TURBO" class in the heavily contested Best In The Desert UTV World Championship.  I knew at that point I could push the status quo of performance for UTVs. But with the challenging task of prepping the car between each race, usually replacing rod ends, it meant the car had to be realigned every race.  Being a fan of road racing I would see the cool machined hub stands that were used to set up these asphalt carvers.  I worked on adapting the concept of these hub stands to the challenge of UTVs which have a spooled rear differential.  This meant that the wheel studs don't clock the same side to side.  Some time after leaving that race team the Motive Engineering Hub Stand was born.  I have been improving it ever since.  Adapting it to work on buggies with their large "Wide 5" lug pattern and Trophy Trucks with their shouldered wheel studs.  Later a more simple hub stand was added that fills the need of auto-cross, track day warriors and DIY car enthusiasts.  I am grateful for this opportunity to work in the motor-sports world and for the many great customers I now call friends!
